Tolerant Facebook: How social media reacted to KyivPride
"Equality March" in Kyiv has been carried out since 2013, and each time it becomes one of the hottest topics for discussion.
Interestingly, there is a small amount of negative attitude against LGBT. Most of the "top" critics of LGBT in Facebook adhere to the well-known thesis: "Do whatever you want, if I and my children do not see it", and therefore, criticizing KyivPride", they do not tend to criticize LGBT. However, in less popular posts that were not included in the main sample, the proportion of direct negativity to LGBT is higher.
Gender distribution among users is worth mentioning: women talked more about LGBT rather than the Pride, but the number of comments under men's posts on this issue was 3.5 times higher. In other words, the positive messages about LGBT from men cause more social buzz and than the similar content from women.
